Become a RainScaping Advocate of Beautiful Solutions to Water Pollution. Take the RainScaping Challenge.
There are many things we can all do right in our own yards to help keep our waterways clean. Install and register your RainScaping project, including one or more of the following actions for each home site:
- 150 square feet of rain garden, or more extensive bio-retention installation
- 5 rain barrels
- 5 native trees and/or 10 native shrubs (1" or larger caliper) per quarter acre
- 150 square feet of permeable pavers
These are minimum sizes; the more the better.
Your project will be highlighted on this website, and it will be entered in a contest for a $50, $100, or $200 grand prize for best RainScaping projects.
Please send two or more photos and a description (a paragraph to 1/2 page), your name, the location of your project, and date of installation, to list and register your project in the cash prize contest.
***Add a RainScaping sign in your yard and/or at your community project site to encourage others to become RainScaping Advocates.
***Share your RainScaping poem. Selected poems will be added to the website with attribution, and could also be used in future PSAs.
***Share your photos and videos. Check out the Photo Gallery for ideas and inspiration for projects you can do at home and in your community.
